Former TE Rob Gronkowski Returns To Familiar Football Role

Former New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski returns to football once again, but there’s a catch. Gronk won’t join the Patriots or the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

According to several sources, Gronk will be the honorary captain at the Arizona Wildcats spring game on April 15. Big Gronk spent three seasons with the Wildcats before joining Bill Belichick’s squad.

Here’s a fun fact. Gronk’s brother, Chris Gronkowski, will captain the other team. Chris was part of the Wildcats from 2007 to 2008 and then played fullback for four years in the NFL. He made a few stops in the NFL, playing with the Dallas Cowboys, Indianapolis Colts, Denver Broncos, and then-San Diego Chargers in the period between 2010 and 2013.

Gronk misses the game and it shows. Returning to the football field is always a good idea and this time Gronk enjoyed some college football. The big man coached a Wildcat team in the 2021 spring game and former Patriots linebacker Tedy Bruschi was in charge of the other squad. Bruschi was a Wildcat from 1991 to 1995.

Rob Gronkowski returns to football with joy

Gronkowski was brilliant in college. He had 75 receptions for 1,197 yards and 16 touchdowns in 22 games. However, he was prone to injuries and his draft experience didn’t end really well.

The Patriots were lucky to play with the Patriots and become a champion while wearing their uniform. Gronk earned four rings as a Patriot and became a true legend in New England.

The tight end was retired for a year before joining Tom Brady and the Buccaneers. Joining the Bucs was a good idea and Gronk won a title. He is retired now. It’s official.

In his NFL career, Gronk had 621 receptiosn for 9,286 yards and 92 yards and 92 touchdowns. He also had four All-Pro honors and five Pro Bowls.

Gronk enjoys teasing his fans. He keeps saying that he will return to the game. He joked at the 30th Annual JCC Sports Dinner in Vancouver, British Columbia.

“I’m coming back to play in the CFL,” Gronkowski joked on March 28.
