Lakers Level Of Interest In Signing Kyrie Irving In The Offseason Revealed

Kyrie Irving will become unrestricted free agent in the summer and many believe that the Los Angeles Lakers will be interested in signing him.

The Lakers have been linked to the talented player for quite some time. Irving made a few stops in the NBA and he is now playing with the Dallas Mavericks. Will Rob Pelinka try his chances with Irving? According to Jovan Buha from The Athletic, the Lakers won’t go after the guard.

“From what I’ve been told, they’re not going to be pursuing Kyrie Irving this offseason,” Buha said. “To my knowledge and to what I’ve been told, the Kyrie ship, I think, has sailed. You never want to say never. That could easily change, but as of right now, their plan is to run this (team) back.”

Lakers considered signing Irving

LeBron James and Irving have a history. They played together in Cleveland and things got a little ugly back then. King James and his former teammate are fine now and the Lakers even tried to get Irving on his team. It didn’t happen and Irving joined Luka Doncic and the Mavericks.

“As I reported around the trade deadline, they were interested in Kyrie and made what they felt was a competitive offer,” Buha said. “When it got to the point that Brooklyn was basically asking for every tradeable asset, they felt it was too much, given all the uncertainty that comes with Kyrie and the way things have played out the last few years.”

The Lakers have a good season despite the frustrating start. LeBron is missing time and Anthony Davis didn’t join his teammates in the game against the Houston Rockets. It may be a bit challenging at this point, but Darvin Ham has a plan and experts are optimists. AD won’t be out forever after all.

The front office may shake things up in the offseason. However, sources reveal that the Lakers will build another roster around LeBron and AD. It’s too soon to make any predictions. Lakers players are busy creating their next game plan.
