Physically Gifted Draft Prospect Visits New England Patriots

The New England Patriots have Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe on the roster, but head coach Bill Belichick can still explore other options. Jones struggled in his second year as a Patriots quarterback and wasn’t really happy with the offensive staff. Will the Patriots replace him in 2023? Ian Rapoport from the NFL Network reported that talented draft prospect visited the Patriots, triggering an avalanche of reactions.

Levis threw for 2,406 yards at Kentucky in 2023. He also launched 19 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. The talented prospect finished his collegiate career with 5,876 yards, 46 touchdowns, and 25 interceptions.

Patriots could benefit from the draft prospect

NFL experts agree that Levis is one of the best quarterbacks in the 2023 class. According to Lance Zierlein, Levis is physically gifted and this makes him one of the better quarterbacks in the draft. Zierlein also compared Levis to Jay Cutler.

“He has prototypical size and experience operating in a pro-style passing attack,” Zierlein wrote. “He’s an athletic passer, with the ability to zip off-platform throws with plus velocity from a compact release. He struggled to put together an extended period of high-caliber quarterback play in 2022, but was also dealing with injuries that he fought his way through for much of the season.

Levis has the arm to beat coverages on all three levels, but inadequate placement and accuracy have created a lot of uncatchable throws. He’s a capable runner outside the pocket but needs to improve his feel for pressure and his consistency when throwing on the move. Levis’ talent is well worth an investment, but could require a talented quarterback coach and a patient plan to tighten up his mechanics, rebuild his confidence and explore an offensive scheme that best suits him.”

The Patriots look good this offseason. They work hard to get the players who can actually fill the holes on their roster. They got JuJu Smith-Schuster and Mike Gesicki.

Kristopher Knox insists that the Patriots “hit a home run” by hiring O’Brien again. The Patriots offense improved a lot this offseason and Mac Jones will probably benefit from these changes.
