Patriots Drafted Ideal Fit For ‘Most Multiple’ Scheme

The New England Patriots played really smart in the 2023 NFL Draft and head coach Bill Belichick got the perfect fit for his scheme. He is the 46th overall pick of the second round of the draft. Matt Bowen from ESPN says the versatile Georgia Tech star is a really good piece for the Patriots defensive puzzle.

The Patriots can use White “as a stand-up edge or loop the rookie off the traditional New England stunts to create A-gap pressure. Given White’s physical profile at 6-5 and 285 pounds, we could also see the Patriots bump him inside in pass-rushing situations. Coming off a 7.5-sack season, he is a matchup option for one of the league’s most multiple defensive systems.”

Patriots to make White fit in the 2023 scheme

Belichick likes versatile players and he probably has a few plans for his newly selected player. White could become a key player for the Patriots defense.

White got a really rare opportunity to play under the best head coach in league history. He thought that his name would be called earlier in the draft, but he will sure appreciate this chance.

Belichick played really smart with this one. He was a defensive coach back in the days and this experience has helped him build lethal defenses over the years. The legendary head coach also likes to move players around in order to make things work for his team.

White will probably play several positions. He could be a middle linebacker who will turn into a defensive end when the situation requires him to do so. White is a brilliant player and he will give the Patriots a good boost from the interior.

The Patriots look good at the moment and Belichick seem to have addressed most of the issues his team had last season. He still has to pick his starting quarterback for the 2023 season, but everyone will get a chance to play, remember? New England has a couple of options at quarterback right now and Belichick can always get another one from the market.
