Chris Paul Lakers LeBron James ‘Dream’ Scenario May Soon Come True

The Los Angeles Lakers have been linked to several players in the last few months. Kyrie Irving, Chris Paul, and many others were expected to join LeBron James and the Lakers this year. However, Paul has been listed as a top target for the purple and gold.

NBA execs have discussed Paul’s situation with the Phoenix Suns. Most of them believe that the NBA veteran will soon leave his current team and join the Lakers.

“Lakers first,” one Eastern Conference GM texted. “It’s not definite, a lot can happen. But you’d have to start there. He always had (the) dream of being a Laker (and) playing with LBJ (James).”

Chris Paul could work well with LeBron and the Lakers, but other teams want him, too

There are several potential scenarios for Paul. He could be bought out by Phoenix and become a free agent. However, the Suns may trade him to another team. Will the Suns even consider keeping him around for another season?

“There is a lot that can happen there,” an Eastern Conference executive said. “The Suns need depth all over that roster. They want to free up their payroll. Want to see if there is a way to bring in Dame (Lillard). They want to see what they can do with a DeAndre Ayton deal. There is a lot on the table. And the Lakers need to know where they are going with (D’Angelo) Russell. They’re not just letting him walk. They traded a pick for him. And who knows if they could get Chris to sign a vet minimum deal or what? But if it is a straight kind of thing, just giving (Paul) the $15 million and moving on, and everything else is equal, it is hard to imagine him not going to the Lakers.”

The Lakers front office has to make a really big decision this summer. They will have $12 million to work with.

There’s a catch though. Paul has attracted the attention of many teams, including the Miami Heat. They wanted him in 2019 and they may still want him on their roster.
