Lakers Linked To 2-Time MVP Amid Recent Rumors About Future
The Los Angeles Lakers have been linked to several players in the last few months. The Lakers front office decided to keep the core intact, but the franchise can definitely use another MVP on the roster. LeBron James and Anthony Davis won’t go anywhere at this point. Austin Reaves, Rui Hachimura, and D’Angelo Russell secured their positions in LA as well. So, who will be the next star player to join the team?
Will Giannis Antetounmpo ever consider putting on a Lakers jersey? The Milwaukee Bucks superstar is loyal to the team. However, he shocked the NBA world with the comments he made a few days ago. It seems like the Greek Freak will not stay with the team if all players are not 100%.
Lakers players to join forces with the two-time MVP?
The Bucks weren’t any close to winning a title last season. They won a championship in the 2020-21 NBA season, but had two disappointing seasons. If Giannis decides to leave the team, the Lakers would be happy to get him.
“The Lakers and the Knicks are already being mentioned as franchises presumed to interest Antetokounmpo down the road if he does decide to move on from Milwaukee, which just made a slew of moves (re-signing Khris Middleton and Brook Lopez and replacing Mike Budenholzer as coach with Adrian Griffin) to try to appease its face of the franchise,” Marc Stein wrote in an August 28 column for his Substack.
“You can be certain, if nothing else, that The Giannis Watch is back on and, like it or not, will thrust his future back to the forefront of the NBA discourse after just three seasons of relative quiet that must have elapsed awfully quickly for Bucks fans.”
It is too soon to make a prediction at this point. Things can change overnight and yes, no one would ever shut down this scenario.
The Lakers gave Anthony Davis a big extension this offseason. LeBron is still here. Well, the front office will have to find a replacement for LeBron at some point. The four-time NBA champion won’t play forever. Is Giannis the right replacement for him?
