Jerod Mayo Says Bill Belichick Never Reached Out After He Got The Patriots Job
The New England Patriots parted ways with Bill Belichick after two decades. Both Belichick and Robert Kraft put an end to their partnership after six championship wins. Belichick led the Patriots to nine Super Bowl appearances and established the Patriots Dynasty. He and Tom Brady accomplished a lot over the years. Although some suggest there was a tension between coach B and the GOAT, many would confirm that these two made the best head coach-quarterback duo. The Patriots hired Jerod Mayo as a replacement for Belichick and this hiring marked the beginning of a new era in New England.
Mayo promised to take a different approach and made a lot of big changes. He did keep some of Belichick’s veterans on the roster and even invited former Patriots players to join his staff. Mayo accepted the challenge and expectations are high.
Belichick has yet to contact Belichick
It may be interesting to note that Belichick never reached out. He didn’t contact or call Mayo after his hiring. Kay Adams asked the Patriots head coach about his communication with Belichick and his response surprised a great number of fans.
“So, that’s a tough question. We haven’t had a lot of communication since I’ve been here and honestly, for me, my focus is the players,” Mayo said. “It’s all about the players and I learned a lot from Bill, I honestly did. X’s and O’s, structure, practice, and things like that but like I said, but it’s a different time, it’s a different era and hopefully we can have that same success.”

Belichick was contacted by several NFL teams, but he didn’t land a coaching job in the offseason. He will definitely join the world of broadcasting and offer his expertise.
The legendary head coach seems to be enjoying his post-NFL life. He’s been making some great headlines lately and pretty much everyone talked about his new romance with Jordon Hudson. Everything points to the fact that Belichick won’t really engage in any NFL discussion with Mayo in the near future.
