Patriots’ QB Jacoby Brissett Provides Valuable Wisdom To Drake Maye
The New England Patriots struggled to find a strong quarterback option following Tom Brady’s departure from the team. They tried their chances with Cam Newton and Mac Jones, but neither of these two actually looks like their future quarterback. Eliot Wolf and Co. used the 3rd overall to select Drake Maye in the 2024 NFL Draft. Adding a rookie quarterback to an awkward quarterback unit triggered an avalanche of reactions. Jacoby Brissett is also part of Jerod Mayo’s roster and he is challenging Maye for the starting job in the 2024 NFL season.
Brissett and Maye look good in training camp and can definitely help the Patriots win some games in the upcoming season. This leaves little to no room for Bailey Zappe. He ranks fourth in the quarterback chart and both rookies are listed ahead of him.
Mayo doesn’t have to worry about the defense, but he sure has to add some aggression to the offensive side of the ball.
Maye challenges Brissett for the starting job
The NFL world has high expectations from Maye and it looks like he could develop into the next QB option for the Patriots.
“Just keep going, man. It’s a long training camp,” Brissett said. “I think you always want somebody to come there and you’re like do the best you can right now. It’s just unrealistic. I think the best thing that he’s doing right now is putting one foot in front of the other. Going back out there and going out there competing. The plays are gonna make themselves. It’s just about doing the little things day in and day out. That’s gonna give you a chance to make the right play.”
The Patriots are entering a challenging season and they should definitely pay more attention to their game plan. A lot of things will look clearer after training camp.
