Tom Brady was reminded once again on Friday how much Patriots Nation love him as the quarterback celebrated his 41st birthday.
The Patriots put out a giant cake in Brady’s honor, while fans in attendance sang ‘Happy birthday’ to him and held up various signs sending him well wishes. Even coach Bill Belichick gave him the day off as a gift, with Brian Hoyer and Danny Etling taking all of the reps during drills.
Brady’s best buddy, Julian Edelman, had some hard time finding the perfect gift for a five-time Super Bowl champion.
“I did not give him anything for his birthday yet. It’s hard to shop for a guy who has everything,” Edelman said on Friday after practice.
While Edelman may not have given him a gift yet, he did put up a thoughtful post to his Instagram page earlier on Friday. Edelman even gave Brady a playful rib at his age, calling the QB 51-years old.
“Happy bday to the “sikist dude in Boston” Toemas ? Brady. Just two bros from the bay to MA. Love ya man, even if you’re 51 years old. #DatsMyQuarterback,” wrote Julian.
However, Edelman thinks that Brady may not be too fond of the attention as he typically is more focused on the team.
“He’s really kind of a dorky, like shy guy so I don’t know if he likes it or if he doesn’t,” Edelman said. “But, you know when you’re singing “Happy Birthday” to Brady you know it’s football season.”
Brady is coming off an MVP season in 2017 where the then 40-year old was able to lead the league in passing yards with 4,557 to go along with a 66.3 completion percentage, 32 touchdowns and just eight interceptions.
“I mean, it’s very incredible,” Edelman said about Brady’s ability to still produce at a high level. “You know, we’re not that young anymore. Wedding crashers. It’s – you know, he’s the GOAT.”
