LeBron James is one of the greatest basketball players to ever walk on Earth, and Kevin Durant recognizes his huge power.
We’ve heard a lot about the potential teaming up of these two, and the Golden State Warriors forward decided to put an end to the rumors. Yes, Kevin Durant doesn’t like to play with King James on the same NBA team. The information was confirmed by Mark Medina of the San Jose Mercury News.
“I am willing to make a bet on Kevin Durant. I don’t see him going to the Lakers whatsoever, and I think the reason with that has to do with LeBron James. Now, he holds LeBron James in very high regard. You know, they have a good relationship, but LeBron’s the guy that he wants to compete for with championships and legacy,” Durant said.
Yes, most of you thought that Durant will join the Lakers team once he becomes a free agents, but experts don’t really think that this is a possible scenario.
“As much as he respects LeBron James, he’s his contemporary. It’s not like Kevin Durant is this younger player. And I think, whether it’s coming from LeBron or just the national narrative, I don’t think he would take kindly to this whole idea that LeBron would this kind of mentor figure,” Medina said.
LeBron is pretty excited about the new composition of the Lakers team. This has nothing to do with the possible landing of Durant. The Lakers have a nice body, and LeBron likes that. Ready to win a few awards? “I love the young guys that they have. I believe Rob [Pelinka] and Magic [Johnson] and Jeanie [Buss] have done an unbelievable job of reshaping what the organization should be, keeping Dr. Buss’ dreams and what he was all about, to keep that going. I feel like they know what’s best for the team and I wanted to be a piece to continue that motion of being back to a championship franchise where they should be,” LeBron said of his new team.
Maybe Durant will change his mind… who knows…
