Report: Patriots Claim Two Wide Receivers

The England Patriots are trying to add more depth to their wide receiver unit.

The team has now claimed wide outs Chad Hansen and Amara Darboh. The Patriots needed more players along the pass catching unit. This summer wasn’t the best when it comes to creating depth at wide receiver. Malcolm Mitchell, Kenny Britt and Jordan Matthews left the team due to injuries. Eric Decker decided to retire.

Chris Hogan, Cordarrelle Patterson and Phillip Dorsett survived the trimming. Julian Edelman will have to wait for four weeks before he joins his teammates.

Hansen is a former fourth round pick of the New York Jets in the 2017 NFL Draft out of Cal. He played in 15 of the Jets’ regular season games last season. Hansen caught nine of 17 targets for 94 yards. This season, Hansen struggled to enter the game of New York. He had almost no impact in the receiving game. When it comes to Cal, Hansen caught 111 passes for 1,498 yards and 12 touchdowns in 17 games.

Darboh was a third round pick of the Seattle Seahawks in 2017 out of Michigan. He played in 16 games for the team last season, and caught eight of his 13 targets for 71 yards. His game with the Wolverines was strong, and he caught 151 passes for 2062 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Quarterback Tom Brady admits that the offense can’t really cope with new receivers.

“I would say receiver is a challenging position in our offense. We have a very graduate level type of offense. It takes a lot to learn. It’s not easy. Not easy for rookies. Not easy for veterans. It’s a lot of work. It’s time consuming. If we are going to be effective on offense we have to have a lot of people out there who can process information quickly and make adjustments. Everything changes week-to-week. Everything is a big adjustment,” Brady said.

Will these two fit in?
