Jarrett Stidham Hosting Workouts With These Six Patriots Teammates

The New England Patriots can’t practice at Gillette Stadium due to coronavirus pandemic. However, second-year quarterback Jarrett Stidham doesn’t miss the workouts with his teammates.

Stidham will probably compete with Brian Hoyer for the empty quarterback spot. Tom Brady left the Patriots this offseason and signed a contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Stidham has a really good chance to take the leading position, and he has already organized small-group throwing sessions away from the Patriots’ home. The information was confirmed by several sources including Mike Reiss from ESPN.

“On a recent day in Massachusetts, Stidham and a group of six teammates gathered at a private football field for their work, which focused intently on following social distancing guidelines,” Reiss wrote. “Stidham has been a catalyst for the throwing sessions, sources said, which reflects a show of leadership as the Patriots transition from 19 seasons with Brady as the starting quarterback.”

Reiss reported that Stidham worked with Hoyer and wide receivers Julian Edelman and Gunner Olszewski. We don’t have the names of the other participants of the practice.

Stidham was a fourth-pick for the Patriots. The team selected Stidham in last year’s draft and he was supposed to replace Tom Brady. That’s exactly what will happen in 2020. Brady is gone now, and Stidham will probably go under center.

Jarrett Stidham is ready to move on with his workouts

Head coach Bill Belichick is confident about his 23-year-old quarterback. He decided not to select a quarterback. Stidham and Hoyer are the only options he has at the moment. The Patriots also signed undrafted free agents J’Mar Smith and Brian Lewerke. They will compete for a third spot on the depth chart. Who will take the leading position.

The late minicamp is still possible. The Patriots will not have their first team practice until training camp begins in July.

Let’s see how will the Patriots handle the upcoming season. They have two strong quarterbacks, and their undrafted free agents are talented too. Belichick likes to win games, and the same applies to his players. The only thing we need to know about is the center position. Who will start games in September?
