Report: Sunday’s Patriots Game Postponed, Cam Newton Has COVID-19

Cam newton has announced that he has tested positive for COVID-19. The New England Patriots-Kansas City Chiefs game that was on Sunday has been postponed. The NFL announced This news today. Reports coming out have made it clear that New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton has tested positive for the coronavirus.

This is terrible news for the NFL. But it is also something that should have been seen coming. There were bound to be some games postponed and rescheduled going into the crazy 2020 season. It would be hard for the Patriots to play without Newton who has been a huge part of the Patriots success on offense.

Bill Belichick has been very high on Newton.

“Cam does a great job of connecting with everybody,” Belichick told reporters. “Whether it’s his teammates, his receivers, guys on defense, other people in the organization. I think the captain voting, not that that’s the ultimate final determination of leadership, but I think the fact that he’s been here a pretty short amount of time and earned that type of respect and support from his teammates is pretty impressive. I think it’s across the board. It’s the offensive line, it’s the receivers, it’s all the offensive players and coaches, and it extends into other areas as well like special teams and defense and other people in the organization. I think that we’ve all seen that and it’s impressive.”

“He’s here a lot. He’s in the building and he’s visible. He is in sight and he’s connecting with people as much as any player,” said Belichick. “He’s in the building more than any player on the team, he spends a lot of time talking and connecting and building relationships with those people. He has tremendous leadership.”

Sadly, we will not get to see the Patriots in action this week.

And from the Patriots themselves.

We wish a speedy recovery to him and anyone else suffering from this disease. Obviously player and staff safety is more important than anything else. However, it will be very interesting to see when it is rescheduled in the future.
