Robert Kraft Addresses Rumor Of Patriots Signing Colin Kaepernick

Colin Kaepernick had slim chances of signing a contract with the New England Patriots. Team owner Robert Kraft did not really say ‘no’ to the recent report about the potential addition of Kaepernick to his team.

The New York Times’ Devin Gordon asked the Patriots team owner about the unconfirmed mid-September report that New England contacted Colin Kaepernick about landing him as a backup. You cannot even imagine Kraft’s response to this question.

“In the interview, Mr. Kraft called the report a ‘rumor’ that had originated with a lawyer in Kaepernick’s camp, but when asked if that meant the report was untrue, he paused for three seconds. ‘I’m done talking about it,’ he said finally,” Gordon wrote.

Kraft did not confirm that any discussion happened, but he did not even deny it. So, is there any possibility that Kaepernick arrives in New England?

Nothing beats the fact that the initial report was suspect. Colin Kaepernick’s attorney, Mark Geragos, said that two NFL teams could show interest in signing the quarterback, and made a cryptic reference to rapper Meek Mill to insinuate that one of the teams was New England. Let’s not forget that Kraft visited Meek Mill in prison.
This was an easy report for the Patriots owner to slam, but Kraft just pulled back.

Kaepernick has not played in the league since 2016. He still tries to raise awareness of racial inequality and police violence against minorities in the US. The quarterback was the first NFL player to take a knee during the performance of the National Anthem in games. He was kicked out, and no team wanted to sign him.

The Patriots are happy with Brian Hoyer as their backup for quarterback Tom Brady. Let’s just wait and see if Kaepernick comes any closer to New England. Will he ever play in the NFL?
