Cam Newton Appears To React To The Mac Jones Pick

The New England Patriots decided to trust Cam Newton, but they also got Mac Jones. How does Newton feel about the new addition?

Head coach Bill Belichick is willing to give Newton enough competition heading into training camp. The veteran quarterback got competition instead of job security. The rookie will challenge Newton, but Belichick sure made a decision. In one of his recent video conferences, Belichick talked about Newton being his starting quarterback. He said, “He is our quarterback.”

Cam Newton will compete with Mac Jones in training camp

Newton seems to enjoy this challenge. He will face adversity and that will probably motivate him to do better in training camp. The 2015 NFL MVP took to Instagram on Friday to deliver a message. He shared a cryptic message with Kendrick Lamar’s song “DUCKWORTH.”

“It was always me vs. the world until I found out it’s me vs. me!” Newton wrote.

He shared a photo of him sporting a leopard print shirt, sunglasses and a facemask. Yes, it was an amazing black and white photo of the veteran quarterback.

Newton started games with the Patriots in 2020. Of course, he didn’t have the best season. The quarterback had 12 rushing touchdowns and only eight passing touchdowns. Three of these happened in Week 17.

Newton became a free agent in the offseason but the Patriots re-signed him to another deal. Head coach Belichick was convinced that Newton would be a good fit for the team. That’s why he decided to give Newton another chance. The 2015 NFL MVP would join the Patriots for another season. He will work with a talented group of players.

One thing stands for sure. Newton won’t stay with the Patriots for too long. If he doesn’t beat out Jones in training camp, Newton won’t stay for the Patriots for too long.

Will Newton start games with the team in 2021? Belichick said he would be their quarterback but we will have to wait and see what happens next with the quarterback.

Belichick has a few great options to choose from.
