Patriots Advised to ‘Consider’ Signing 4-Time Pro-Bowler

The New England Patriots made some changes to their roster and head coach Bill Belichick seems to be happy with the way his 2022 squad looks. He traded for DeVante Parker and also got Tyquan Thornton. His receiving group seems to be fine. The Patriots are expected to make a few more offseason moves and they may soon consider signing a four-time Pro Bowler.

Will Anthony Barr fit in Belichick’s system? Joe Tansey from Bleacher Report bets on this signing. According to him, the Patriots should go after the former Minnesota Vikings star.

Interestingly, Barr is a free agent now. He joined the NFL in the 2014 NFL Draft. The Minnesota Vikings got him as the ninth overall pick and Barr was loyal to the team until now. The Pro Bowler didn’t miss much time in his first eight years in the NFL. However, he saw action in just two games in 2020. In 2021, Barr missed six games.

Belichick could really use someone like Barr. He is speedy and rangy linebacker and Mac Jones can really connect him without an issue. Barr is an experience veteran and NFL teams wouldn’t mind signing him.

Patriots may be interested in signing the Pro Bowler later this summer

How will the Patriots handle this opportunity? They may offer him a one-year deal. Harvey Langi and Matt Judon will have a nice role in 2022 and Belichick will definitely rely on young linebackers. Raekwon McMillan, Ja’Whaun Bentley, Josh Uche, Ronnie Perkins, Mack Wilson, Anfernee Jennings, and Cameron McGrone are part of the group. Phil A. Perry from NBC Sports says that each of these players will see action in 2022. If Barr joins the Patriots this summer, he will easily take someone’s spot on the depth chart. Of course, he will have to show his insane skills and convince the Patriots that he is a top name.

Dont’a Hightower has yet to make a decision on his future with the team. He entered free agency and may join the group of players who left the team this year. If Hightower decides to re-sign with the Patriots, Belichick will be more than happy to give him a role. In other words, Barr’s potential signing depends on several factors.
