Retired 3-Time Champion Talks About LeBron James, Lakers’ Offseason

LeBron James started his offseason a little earlier than expected and has enough time to prepare and become a champion. LeBron and the Los Angeles Lakers almost made the NBA Finals, but Nikola Jokic and his squad had different plans.

So, LeBron will be 39 in December. Yes, he is aging, but age has nothing on his performance. A.C. Green is actually convinced that the best is yet to come.

“I am amazed at what LeBron can do,” Green told Brandon Scoop B Robinson on August 8. “I was talking with numerous friends and colleagues: just the fact that he’s playing at that level for his whole career….He’s coming with that expectation and all of a sudden he’s lived up to it that rookie year, and he sustained it throughout.”

LeBron will strive for another champion title win following the offseason

LeBron had a MVP performance last season. He had a MVP performance the year before and every other season. He couldn’t get a hold on this award because the Lakers couldn’t keep themselves high in rankings. The four-time NBA champion averaged 28.9 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 6.8 assists in 2022-23. LeBron also became the all-time leading scorer last season! His performance is crazy!

“The thing is, now that he’s coming toward the end of a career, his game is not coming toward the end of his productivity,” Green added. “But at the same time, I’m also happy that you know [general manager] Rob Pelinka is bringing the resources around to help lighten the load a little bit where he doesn’t have to feel he’s got to carry that torch and baton every single game.”

LeBron James has been linked to several teams, but he is not going anywhere. Pelinka gave Anthony Davis a three-year contract extension, meaning LeBron will stay around for that long. Probably.

Fans are slightly concerned about LeBron’s health as he missed significant time in the last few seasons due to injuries. Staying healthy is a priority for the king of basketball after all.

A lot of people compare Victor Wembanyama to LeBron and the king spoke his mind about it.

“Everybody’s been a unicorn over the last few years,” the Lakers superstar said in October. “But he’s more like an alien. I’ve never seen – no one has ever seen anyone as tall as he is but as fluid and as graceful as he is out on the floor…For sure a generational Talent and, hopefully, he continues to stay healthy. That’s what’s most important for him.”
