Bill O’Brien Shares His Starting QB Expectation Heading Into Week 7

Head coach Bill Belichick shares the same frustration with Patriots fans. The New England Patriots have a 1-5 record at this point of the season and some NFL analysts have removed the team from the playoff picture. Who created this mess? Quarterback Mac Jones earned a dose of criticism early in the season. Some placed the blame on Belichick. Let’s just say players should have tried harder last week. Playing against the Las Vegas Raiders was supposed to be a piece of cake, but it wasn’t. Josh McDaniels beat his former team. Current Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien shared his thoughts on the QB situation in New England.

Will NFL analysts agree with him on this one? If you ask O’Brien, he will say that Mac Jones will probably start on Sunday. Jones may have his job at the moment, but he could easily be pushed around if his struggles continue.

It seems like O’Brien picked up some of Belichick’s comments. He wouldn’t reveal too much and said “it’ll be week to week” when asked about Jones’ starting position.

O’Brien will continue with Jones at the starting QB position

Jones struggled in the 21-17 loss to the Raiders. He didn’t score a touchdown and wasn’t in his best shape. As if this wasn’t enough, Jones also threw an interception. Belichick used a first-round pick to get Jones, but the quarterback didn’t meet expectations. He was good in his first season with the team, but things fell apart last season. He was benched and the Patriots head coach benched him again this season.

Patriots fans will never forget Jones’ throw to Hunter Henry. It was supposed to be a good throw, but it turned into an interception. Tony Romo said it was a “horrendous throw.”

Jones ranks 30th at this point of the season and his two touchdowns don’t make things easier for him.

Will Belichick move Jones from his starting position? He had words of praise for Malik Cunningham and the versatile player looked good in the loss against the Raiders. Will Cunningham replace Jones on the field?
