Latest Update Sheds Light On Lakers Rumored Trade Candidate D’Angelo Russell

The Los Angeles Lakers won the NBA Cup, but the great victory didn’t stop the avalanche of reactions following the loss to the Dallas Mavericks. The front office is expected to make a move and recharge the roster, adding a few new players to the group. Most players on Rob Pelinka’s roster are eligible for a trade on December 15. Players like Austin Reaves are eligible for a trade on January 15. If the Lakers decide to trade some of their players, they will probably place D’Angelo Russell on the trade block.

LA got Russell almost a year ago. He brought fresh power to the team and looked like a good fit for the roster. However, his struggles in the postseason surprised many fans. Russell wasn’t a factor in the postseason and his future with the Lakers may be hanging in the air. Well, the Lakers offered him a new deal in the offseason. He has great stats this season.

Lakers could consider a trade move involving Russell

Michael Scotto from Hoopshype discussed Russell’s potential trade. He could be added to a trade offer along with Rui Hachimura. Sam Amico from Hoopswire has a different scenario for the Lakers. According to him, the franchise isn’t actively shopping the point guard.

Russell averages 16.6 points and 6.3 assists per game while shooting 48% overall and 41% from the three-point line.

The Lakers may not be looking for trade candidates right now and they may not be trying to trade Russell. However, “they would in the right deal, or at least would be more likely to move Russell than some others. And they just may have to if they want a third consistent scorer in return.”

LA could send Russell to the Chicago Bulls and get Zach LaVine. Gabe Vincent’s recovery could also affect Russell’s role with the team. He shows great results in the playoffs and LA could prioritize him over Russell.
