LeBron James, Anthony Davis Uncertain About Lakers’ Potential After Quiet NBA Trade Deadline

The Los Angeles Lakers didn’t make any moves at the trade deadline and LeBron and Anthony Davis had something to say about it. Was this a good move? Does Darvin Ham have everything he needs to lead the team to the playoffs?

“I don’t know,” LeBron said when asked what a healthy Lakers squad needs to do to make another playoff run. “We haven’t gotten to that point. So it’s hard for me to say.”

LeBron doesn’t have a big say in front office decisions. He did try to drop some hints, but the Lakers didn’t make any moves. Ham will have to complete his season with the current roster. The Lakers definitely have a chance to make some changes in the offseason as they have some first-rounders to trade.

“That’s obviously for the front office to decide what’s best for the team, currently and future,” said Davis. “My job’s to go out and there with whatever guys are on the team. I don’t really get too involved in 2027, 2028, 2029.”

LeBron and Davis aren’t too worried about the trade deadline

The trade deadline sparked too many discussions, but it’s all over now. Lakers players will sure agree on this one. It was frustrating and fans came up with a new story every other day.

“My focus is on right now,” added Davis. “I’m just glad that it’s over. It can kinda be a little wacky around trade deadline time. Guys hear their name in rumors.

“We are who we are. We have who we have. This is gonna be our team, now. It’s behind us now. We gotta figure out how to get some more wins and move up in the standings.”

The Lakers had a few trade assets, but Pelinka kept them all. D’Angelo Russell and Gabe Vincent aren’t going anywhere at this point, and so is Cam Reddish. Staying healthy is a priority right now and that’s the only thing that matters. Has had to fix his rotation as some of the players are still out.

“We all want to win,” said AD. “For us, right now, it’s just about winning the next game. Can’t look too far ahead in the future. That’s the end goal, is to win every year. Obviously, our organization is used to championships.

“But, it’s one, about staying healthy, and two, it’s a lot of things we need to clean up on both ends of the floor before we’re able to start talking about championships.”
