Patriots Can Complete Bargain Trade For A Favorite WR Of Alex Van Pelt

The New England Patriots made a few big moves after the end of the 2023 NFL season. They parted ways with head coach Bill Belichick and released some of his favorite players. Jerod Mayo is the new head coach for the team and it seems like he has great plans for the future. The Patriots have to make big changes in most units and they should also consider pulling out a trade for a talented WR.

New England needs strong receivers and a new name in the quarterback unit. The team struggled in the last few seasons. Who will be the next to join the team?

Kristopher Knox from Bleacher Report discussed a potential trade for Amari Cooper. He believes that the team needs a 1,000-yard wide receiver like Cooper. Getting the Cleveland Browns WR won’t be easy because their new offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt really likes him.

“New England could use the No. 3 pick on a wideout like Ohio State’s Marvin Harrison Jr. and still use a veteran like Cooper opposite him,” Knox noted.

“Trading for Cooper shouldn’t be overly expensive. The Browns acquired him in 2022 for just a fifth-round pick and a swap of sixth-round selections. If Cleveland is willing to deal him now, it’ll be more interested in the cap savings than acquiring premium draft compensation.”

Cooper would instantly become the N0.1 receiver for the Patriots. Will Mayo make a move to get him?

Patriots have to trade for a WR option in the offseason

In 2023, Cooper had 72 catches for 1,250 yards and five touchdowns. He caught everyone’s attention with his ability to attack defenses. Cooper averaged 17.4 yards per reception which was also his career-high. The talented player also had eight catches on 40-plus yards, ranking second, right behind Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill.

Van Pelt found the perfect way to use Cooper and was able to boost his stats.

The Patriots are entering an important offseason. Mayo will have to try his best and avoid making any mistakes.
