Potential Patriots QB Pick Turns Heads With Impressive Pro Day Performance
The New England Patriots have their eyes on QB pick Michael Penix Jr. and it seems like he is the perfect player to replace Mac Jones. Penix Jr. had a brilliant performance at his pro day at Washington, surprising attendees with his great athleticism.
… Patriots college scouting director Cam Williams was the one who didn't make the trip from Baton Rouge to Chapel Hill. Instead, Williams went to Washington, where he'll lead a group of four NE scouts at Michael Penix's Pro Day.

(The Commanders meet with Maye this AM as well.)
Albert Breer discussed the performance Penix Jr. had all while confirming that Patriots scouting director Cam Williams was there to attend the great event. The talented prospect was determined to show everyone that he is extremely capable on the football field.
Patriots can make a move and get the QB pick
Penix Jr. was impressive in so many aspects. Scouts marked his runs at 4.51 and 4.57 seconds, emphasizing his great speed and acceleration. His vertical jump went at 36 ½ inches, and Penix Jr. showed great athleticism and leaping skills.

“I just wanted to show that I’m athletic, and I can do it with my legs if I have to,” Penix Jr. told the media.
Penix Jr. seems to have what most NFL teams need. He knew how to attract everyone’s attention and his performance was great in every aspect. In his college career Penix Jr. was great passer, but there isn’t much info on his running and athleticism. In his five years (49 games), the quarterback had 134 rushing attempts and averaged 2.0 yards per carry.
Penix Jr. didn’t have great rushing numbers, but he did have an impressive speed and mobility. He was able to show this during his pro day and the Patriots better make a decision before it’s too late.
The Patriots could agree to a trade deal with the Vikings and Raiders and get a player that works for them. They can go down the draft and end up outside the top 10 in the first round. This could secure second and third-round picks in the 2024 draft and a first-round pick next year.

If the Patriots don’t make a move to get Jayden Daniels or Drake Maye, they can definitely get Penix Jr.

At least one NFL coach believes that the talented prospect is definitely a first-round pick.
