Wild 4-Team Proposed Trade Gives Lakers A 3-Time All-Star

The Los Angeles Lakers have been linked to multiple players in the last few months and Trae Young is one of them. The Lakers have a real chance to trade for the All-Star, giving him a chance to become the third player behind LeBron James and Anthony Davis. LeBron won’t play forever and the Lakers front office has to make some plans about the future. The end of the 2023-24 season is almost here and players are still trying to secure their spot in the play-in tournament.

How can LA improve their roster? Bleacher Report’s Andy Bailey has a trade proposal for the franchise. They will have to agree to all terms provided by three other teams in order to make this work. Bailey’s four-team trade includes the Lakers, Golden State Warriors, Atlanta Hawks, and Minnesota Timberwolves.

The trade sends Karl-Anthony Towns, Rui Hachimura, and Garrison Mathews to the Golden state. Hawks are getting Draymond Green, D’Angelo Russell, Jalen Hood-Schifino, Wendell Moore Jr., a 2029 first-round pick from LA, and a 2031 top-five protected first-rounder from LA.

The Timberwolves will get Austin Reaves, Chris Paul, Trayce Jackson-Davis, a 2025 second-rounder from Atlanta, a 2026 first-rounder from the Warriors, and a top-five protected 2028 first-round pick from the Warriors.

LA is getting Young, Josh Minott, and Gui Santos. It’s a tough scenario for the Lakers, but they are still getting Young. Will the front office agree to give up on Reaves, Russell, Hachimura, Hood-Schifino, a 2029 first-rounder, and a top-five-protected 2031 first-rounder.

Young is a brilliant player and signing him makes great sense for the Lakers. He averages 26.4 points and 10.8 assists while shooting 37.1% from the three point line.

Lakers will try to trade for a third star, getting the All-Star makes sense for the front office

Jovan Buha from The Athletic discussed the Lakers’ interest in signing another star. He shared information obtained from several sources. According to this report, the Lakers are definitely trying to get a third star on their roster.

“Yes, they are [going after a third star]. And I can confirm that from multiple sources. They are going third-star hunting this offseason. And we’ll see how that affects the D-Lo (D’Angelo Russell) situation. We’ll see how — you probably have to give up Austin [Reaves] in almost any…third-star trade.

“… Now, who’s available? The one name I continually hear is Trae Young. He’s been to Lakers playoff games before. He’s a Klutch Sports client. That’s probably the most realistic one right now. What happens with Dallas and Kyrie [Irving]? Do they flame out? Do they lose in the play-in? Lose in round one? Does Dallas ultimately break that up? And then what’s the market for Kyrie?”
