Another NBA Star and MVP Could Join LeBron in Lakers Next Year

The Los Angeles Lakers landed LeBron James, and his contract is still the hottest topic these days. But, the team is already aiming towards another NBA star. The Lakers are pretty fine with the idea to sign in Kevin Durant. Moreover, James LeBron himself tried to recruit Durant in Southern California for the summer.

The 33-year-old NBA star signed his $154 million contract with the Lakers after playing four seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He moved to the Western Conference, and he made such thing for the first time in his career. And now he tries to get Kevin Durant on his side.

LeBron tried to convince Paul George and Kawhi Leonard to come with him. Yes, that would’ve been an awesome team. However, Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka couldn’t really cope with such deals.

So, now the king has to play with a squad of journeyman veterans like Rajon Rondo, JaVale McGee, Lance Stepenson and Michael Beasley. He will also play alongside a bunch of promising young talents, including Kyle Kuzma, Lonzo Ball, Josh Hart, and Brandon Ingram.

Fox Sports’ Skip Bayless said the king has made an effort to recruit Kevin Durant.

“I was told that LeBron did contact Kevin just to make sure, because he was a free agent, unrestricted, just to say ‘hey, would you think about it [joining the Lakers]? I was told Kevin said ‘not this time but maybe next year, let’s see how it all shakes out.’ If Golden State wins again that would be a three-peat, four out of five years. Would that be enough for him to say ‘okay, it would be pretty cool to go to Southern California and win one with LeBron?’ Bayless said.

Durant opted out of his deal with the warriors, and hopes to get a one-plus-one contract, meaning he will be free agent again in 2019.
