LeBron James left the Cavs to join the Los Angeles Lakers, and many athletes thought that he’d stay in Cleveland. Collin Sexton’s reaction is the last thing you expected.
LeBron’s new contract triggered an avalanche of reactions, and nobody thought that he’d leave Cleveland for the second time in his career. Cavs fans were angry at him. Some were happy to see him inking a new contract. LeBron helped the Cavs win a championship, remember? The only thing that we should do at the moment is convince Kobe Bryant’s fans that LeBron deserves his spot in the Lakers team. Cleveland Cavaliers rookie Collin Sexton says nothing went through his mind the first time he heard about the big news.
“Nothing. I just understood it was time for me and my teammates to step up. Make sure we’re all good and then continue to work hard and get better,” Sexton said.
Sexton is the eight pick of the 2018 NBA Draft. He’s also the crown jewel of the Kyrie Irving trade, and probably one of the very few payers who will give Cleveland enough power to stay competitive during the transition period.
LeBron’s first departure from Cleveland caused an almost irreparable damage to the Cavaliers, and the team collapsed. They touched the bottom that season. Luckily, none of that will happen this season.
The Cavs have done their best to rebuild their team. The organization seems to be fine with the new look, and let’s face it, they found a way to live without LeBron. Everything is possible. Impossible is nothing. Whatever.
We all know that the Cavaliers are ready to fight for their playoff spot. Their roster is in a good shape, and it’s actually good news for all the fans. Maybe Cleveland will jump a bit higher this season.
