John Lynch Tells Story Of Asking Bill Belichick If Tom Brady Was Available

San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch will always remember his phone call with New England Patriots Bill Belichick.

John Lynch went on the Pardon My Take podcast, and talked about the way he asked Belichick about Tom Brady’s trade availability. This happened when the 49ers and the Pats couldn’t agree on the terms of the deal for Jimmy Garropolo.

“We were calling about Jimmy, and we did have that conversation and got quickly rebuffed. I figured what the heck, you’ve got to take your shot. you can’t score if you don’t shoot. So I had to summon up the coverage, and Bill laughed at me and basically hung up on me. But, hey, I took my shoot,” Lynch said.

Well, he took his shot, but Belichick wasn’t buying any of that. Trade Tom Brady? Quarterback Tom Brady? Lynch was crazy to ask this question, and that’s probably the first thing that popped in Belichick’s mind. Can you imagine the ton of his voice when he responded to Lynch’s offer… That would be hilarious.

The 49ers did a good deal with Jimmy Garoppolo, and Lynch is an absolute winner here. Does this man really believe that nothing is out of bounds? Probably. His suggestion for Belichick says it all. Luckily, Belichick was down to Earth when he first heard the suggestion.

Tom Brady is getting ready for his 19th season with the New England Patriots, despite the rumors related to his retirement. The quarterback doesn’t even think of going anywhere as he’s more than ready to give his best for the team.

The third preseason game was awful, but Brady couldn’t handle it on his own. The team’s organization didn’t work, and let’s hope that none of that will ever happen again. The Patriots will have their final preseason game Thursday against the Giants.
