LeBron James Opens Up About His Relationship With New Lakers Teammates

LeBron James recently decided to join the Los Angeles Lakers, and one of the reasons for it is because they could build a team of superstar players around him.

While there aren’t any other stars added to the team so far, James seems to like the way that the Lakers are currently constructed – especially their young players.

“I love the young guys that they have. I believe Rob [Pelinka] and Magic [Johnson] and Jeanie [Buss] have done an unbelievable job of reshaping what the organization should be, keeping Dr. Buss’ dreams and what he was all about, to keep that going. I feel like they know what’s best for the team and I wanted to be a piece to continue that motion of being back to a championship franchise where they should be,” he said in a recent interview.

He also praised the other free agent additions that the Lakers made this offseason.

“We got guys who love to play basketball. And that’s what they do every single day. I love that, and I think Pelinka and Magic love that as well. And that’s why they made the signings. Bringing Lance [Stephenson] and JaVale [McGee] and [Michael Beasley] and [Rajon] Rondo — guys that every day they wake up they’re thinkin’ about the game of basketball. Everything else is secondary. So we look forward to all the challenges and, I mean, eyebrows are always gonna get raised when my name is involved anyway, so it shouldn’t even be a surprise.”

James said that for him, joining the Lakers and partnering with his childhood idol Magic Johnson was a real dream come true.

“This is kind of like a dream come true for me. You know, growing up, I was a Cowboys fans, I was a Bulls fan, I was a Yankees fan, and I’ve always felt like that was one of the historic franchises. You look at the Lakers and being able to play for a historic franchise, with so much history, you know? And now being able to partner with Magic Johnson, someone I kind of like looked up to when I was younger, you know, and wanted to make no-look passes like Magic, wanted to get on the break and be ‘Showtime’ like Magic, and then for it to all come to fruition at this point, I think timing is everything.”

We hope he has a wonderful season with the Lakers and to see them in the NBA Finals this year!
