The Patriots Could Sign a New Top Class Cornerback

Top teams are hosting Bashaud Breeland in order to have him ink a deal, but it seems like the New England Patriots have the greatest chance of landing the cornerback.

Bashaud Breeland is still in search for a new team. He has visited several teams so far, and this time he went to check the Pats training camp. ESPN’s Josina Anderson said that the Pats will probably circle back to their convo with the cornerback after the first preseason game.

Although Breeland didn’t sign a contract after the practice, it’s more than clear that the Pats are interested in him.

The 26-year-old player is one of the most successful cornerbacks on the open market. He signed a deal with the Carolina Panthers earlier this month, but the contract was nullified after his foot cut got infected. Breeland cut his foot in the Dominican Republic, and the infection put an end to his contract with the Panthers.

The Patriots were Breeland’s first choice after the infection. Several other teams are interested in him at the moment, including the New York Jets. According to Anderson, Breeland will base his decision on the opportunity to start over with quaranteed amount of money.

New England still has an open starting spot after Malcolm Butler left the team. If the Pats think that Breeland is better than Eric Rowe, Jason McCourty and other players on the roster, they will definitely go for a round of negotiations.

The team is pretty deep at the corner with the talent of McCourty, Rowe, Gilmore JC Jackson, Jonathan Jones, Cryus Jones Keion Crosse, Ryan Lewis and Duke Dawson.

This season will be full of surprises, and New England will definitely reach the final match. Its roster is pretty strong which increases their likelihood of winning the Super Bowl. Awesome!
