Marquis Flowers Shares Emotional Goodbye Message To Patriots After Release

Marquis Flowers walked away, but didn’t forget to give the team one last shout out.

The New England Patriots released Marquis Flowers on Saturday in the massive roster trimming. Flowers was part of the Patriots family for a year, and the release wasn’t the scenario he hoped for.

The linebacker/special teams ace became a fan favorite for his constant communication with Pats fans on social media. He also did a good job on the field. Although the team released him, Flowers isn’t angry at all.

“Nothing But Love And Appreciation to the @patriots organization and the Entire state of Massachusetts! I enjoyed every last second and wouldn’t change it for nothing! Y’all know how it goes in this league but the Marathon must continue! Thank you For a Great Year!!!” Marquis wrote.

Flowers re-signed with the New England Patriots earlier this season, and agreed to a one-year deal worth $2.55 million. He made $200,000 from his signing bonuses and another $50,000 in workout bonuses.

The linebacker joined the Patriots after their trade of the 2018 seventh round pick with the Bengals. Flowers totaled 30 tackles and 3.5 sacks. He played 26.7-percent of the defensive snaps this year. He also contributed on special teams with 46.34-percent of the snaps. This marked the sixth highest on the Patriots last season.

When it comes to playoffs, Flowers played in three contests for th eteam, and compiled six tackles along with a sack. He had a similar snap count percentage at the regular season totals in the team’s loss to the Eagles in Super Bowl LII.
Flowers has expressed his desire to stay with the team. The player was reported to have a competitive market this offseason, and many teams were interested in him this offseason. Who will be the first to sign the linebacker? Will the Patriots regret his loss?
