Patriots Release First Injury Report Of 2018

The New England Patriots were complete at practice on Wednesday. The team also released its Wednesday injury report for the first time in the 2018 season.

The injury report includes limited players that didn’t play with full capacity in the preseason.

Running back Red Burkhead wasn’t on the list along with starting right tackle Marcus Cannon who is listed as a full participant. Burkhead suffered a tear in his knee, and this injury limited him in the preseason. However, the running back will sure play as there are no restrictions on him at the moment.

The team is leaning on Burkhead and James White at the beginning of the season. Julian Edelman will miss the first four games, and the Pats receiving unit is not as strong as it used to be. Burkhead was both runner and pass catcher last season. He was able to catch 30 passes for 254 yards and three touchdowns, and rushed for 264 yards on 4.1 yards per carry and five scores.

Cannon was out of the preseason due to his leg injury. He is already feeling better which secures the offensive line. Cannon and Trent Brown are back in the fold which gives quarterback Tom Brady enough strength for the upcoming matchup.

Here’s the injury report:

LB Ja’Whaun Bentley (illness) – limited
DB Duke Dawson (hamstring) – limited
TE Jacob Hollister (hamstring) – limited
RB Sony Michel (knee) – limited
T Marcus Cannon (calf) – full participation
DB Nate Ebner (knee) – full participation

When it comes to Sony Michel, head coach Belichick said that he is a bit behind. Michel missed the preseason, but he’s trying really hard to stay in line with the rest of the guys.

The Patriots are in full bloom, and the regular season will sure bring tons of excitement. Julian Edelman will sure give them an extra kick within a month.
