Shaquille O’Neal Makes Mind-Wreaking Statement About LeBron James

LeBron James’ new contract with the Los Angeles Lakers didn’t bring much joy to every Lakers legend. Hall-of-Famer Shaquille O’Neal has a different view on the whole thing, and you’d be surprise to hear him talking of King James.

Stop it. You can’t come here and play one year and be involved in the conversation for best Laker ever. Stop it. Are you kidding me?…No disrespect to Lebron. He’s a great player, but you can’t come here one year and be in that conversation. Listen, Magic, Worthy, Kobe, Jerry West, Elgin Baylor, Wilt Chamberlain. That’s a lot,” said Shaquille O’Neal, as confirmed by The Official Lakers Podcast.

O’Neal is well aware of the LeBron power, and they shared the same court in the 2009-10 season. He also knows what it takes for a person to be certified as a legend in Hollywood as it shared the same floor with Kobe Bryant in the period between 1996-2004. They conquered three consecutive NBA Finals together. Kobe had a different opinion on LeBron’s arrival in Los Angeles.

“But listen, if you are fan of mine, you are a fan of winning, you are a fan of the Lakers. I bleed purple and gold. So, that is above anything else. I have been a Lakers fan since I was yay high. That is never going to change. Right? [It] is about winning championships. So, they’ll fall in line,” Kobe said at the time.

If LeBron manages to get a ring in the next four years, he will be one of the three players to win a championship with three different organizations. This will be James’ most challenging campaign so far, and he’s entering another season being the only big star on the team. His teammates are still developing, but LeBron James has no problem with that.
