Colin Cowherd Makes Bold Statement About Patriots Ahead Of Game Vs Steelers

Things can get really hectic in the NFL within a week, and the New England Patriots know it best. Last Tuesday, Colin Cowherd ranked the Patriots as the top team in the AFC run after the team’s two-touchdown win over the Vikings. The host also placed New England as the No. 2 overall squad in the NFL, right behind the Saints.

However, everything changed after Week 14. Colin Cowherd changed his mind, and ranked the Patriots at No. 6 in his weekly top 10 list. The Chiefs are now ranked as No.1, and the Los Angeles Chargers made their way to No. 3.

Cowherd has a good explanation on his ranking, and it has something to do with the playoff run.

“Here’s what I would say about New England: do they have the best coach? Yeah. Do they have the best pre-snap quarterback? Yeah. Are they situationally, usually, great? Yeah. And they will play a home playoff game. Now, this team, the margins are shrinking. They’re 2-4 this year when they don’t rush for 100 yards. They really need (Rex) Burkhead, James White and Sony Michel to be healthy. They’re not beating a Kansas City Chiefs or a Chargers if they’re dinged up in the backfield. Again, like Dallas, nobody wants to admit this, but there’s kind of a certain way New England has to win now. Running backs are healthy, little home field would help. I got them at six,” Cowherd said.

“The Herd” host was not trying to jump ship on New England. However, he does believe that something have to take the right direction for the team in order to give us a really long playoff run. So, let’s see if the Patriots will manage to “regain” Cowherd’s trust. Strange things can happen overnight, right? Or in the final play… That’s what happened with the Miami Dolphins.
