Patriots Release Injury Report… Six Questionable For Titans Playoff Game

The New England Patriots lost the regular-season finale to a weak opponent and lost their chance to enjoy a bye week. Losing to the Miami Dolphins wasn’t in the script, but the team lost this game. That’s why they have to host the Tennessee Titans at Gillette Stadium for a wild-card round game. It’s an easy playoff game. An unexpected one. New England has released the injury report ahead of the game, and six players are ruled questionable.

LB Ja’Whaun Bentley, Knee

DB Terrence Brooks, Groin

LB Jamie Collins, Shoulder

WR Julian Edelman, Knee/Shoulder

CB Jonathan Jones, Groin

CB Jason McCourty, Groin

McCourty and Brooks missed the regular-season finale. The former has played just eight defensive snaps since the Week 10 contest. The defending champions had perfect attendance at all three sessions this week. Edelman has spent almost an entire season on the injury report due to multiple ailments. In a radio interview, Edelman said he feels “better than (he has) in the last few weeks.”

“I feel good, and that’s that,” he told WEEI’s “The Greg Hill Show” on Thursday morning when asked about his health. “I feel better than I have in the last few weeks, and I feel good enough to go out and compete at a high level. You play for the money during the regular season; you play for your name during the postseason.”

Patriots offensive tackle Marcus Cannon was removed from the injury report and he was a full participant in Thursday’s session.

Tennessee ruled wide receiver Adam Humphries out due to an ankle injury. He has not seen action since the Week 13 game. Wideouts Kalif Raymond (concussion) and Cody Hollister (ankle) and safety Dane Cruikshank (illness) are listed as questionable for the Patriots opponents.

Head coach Bill Belichick is optimistic about this game, and the same applies to his players. New England has to win this game, and pretty much everyone is ready for a playoff win. Brady will go back to his red-and-blue cleats, and Edelman is expected to play through his injury. As always. Let’s see what happens on Saturday at Gillette Stadium.
