LeBron James Once Saved Carmelo Anthony’s Life

NBA players are in quarantine, and this gives them plenty of time to share their favorite stories. Dwyane Wade and Carmelo Anthony shared a nice LeBron James story. Moreover, LeBron saved the life of his dear Carmelo. This isolation period is great for those who like to recall moments of their past.

Anthony and Wade had live session on Instagram on Thursday. During the convo, they shared the story where King James saved Melo from a dangerous current pulling him away.

“It was my fault though, I was still trying to see the last bit of the barracuda, snorkeling and all that,” Anthony began. “It was my fault. I look up, the current is taking me to the middle of the ocean, like opposite from the boat.”

Wade couldn’t see Melo at that point.

“It was windy, all type of s— was going on through my head, I’ll be honest with you,” Anthony said. “Then I look up at the boat and I see Bron jump off the boat like he is MacGyver. … He jumped off the boat into the water. He was bringing me back with one arm.”

Wade said LeBron was his hero back then.

“I’ve told people this story before,” he said. “I said, ‘Listen, I’ve seen LeBron do a lot of amazing things on the court. Off the court, when he went and saved Melo’s life.’”

Melo appreciated King James’ efforts to save his life.  “I can’t hold you. He saved my life. Yo Bron, I appreciate that. You saved my life that day,” he said.

LeBron and Carmelo had a great time together

Each of the “characters” of this incredible story was of the amazing draft class of 2003. LeBron, Anthony, and Wade were the first, third, fifth overall picks in the 2003 NBA draft respectively. Wade and LeBron played together in Miami and won two Championships. He retired in 2019 while LeBron and Anthony joined the Los Angeles Lakers and Portland Trail Blazers.

This was a rather good story, and it sure made us forget about the current crisis. The world struggles against COVID-19, and more than half of million people tested positive.
