3 Ways LeBron James is Actually Better Than Michael Jordan

ESPN’s documentary on Chicago Bulls icon Michael Jordan, “The Last Dance,” is set to be released on Sunday. This documentary only adds fuel to the fire, and fans have reopened the GOAT debate again. Is LeBron James better than Michal Jordan?

At the beginning of his professional career, LeBron said he was chasing the ghost from Chicago. He came back from a 3-1 deficit in the 2016 Finals against the Golden State Warriors, and used his succes to declare himself as the GOAT.

Jordan is the best scorer the NBA has ever seen. But, LeBron is the best playmaker. In his pro career, Jordan has averaged just 5.3 assists per game. The Lakers superstar has had 7.4 per game. This includes a league-leading 10.6 mark this season. In other words, LeBron is the ultimate playmaker. That’s what makes him such an exceptional player.

LeBron James has better numbers than Michael Jordan

Let’s go through some numbers. LeBron has better number in multiple categories. This includes points, rebounds, assists and blocks. King James also has a better shooting percentage (50.4%) than Jordan (49.7%) and three-point percentage: 34.4% compared to a 32.7% clip. We’d just let the numbers do the talking her. When it comes to per game averages, free throw shooting is the only thing Jordan did better than LeBron.

LeBron’s teams have turned into a mess after his departure. When Jordan first planned to retire (1994), the Bulls had an “unprecedented success.” The Bulls finished the season with 55 wins without him. That’s two wins less than the total they had in the previous season. In 2009, the Cavaliers had the No. 1 seed and had a 61-22 record. LeBron left the team in 2010 to join the Miami Heat. The Cavs fell to a 19-63 finish.  Cleveland missed the playoffs each season until LeBron’s return in 2014. He won the first title in 2016. What’s Cleveland up to now that LeBron is gone? We’d definitely stop here.

Everything points to the fact that LeBron is the GOAT. His wins, his stats, his dominance on the floor. He will definitely win a title with the Lakers this season. Of course, that will happen if the season resumes.
