Colin Cowherd Makes Bold Prediction After Cam Newton To Patriots Deal

Colin Cowherd shared his take on Cam Newton and his new deal with the New England Patriots. Both sides agreed to a one-year deal worth $7.5 million. Newton’s deal is heavy on incentives. The 2015 NFL MVP will have to compete with second-year quarterback Jarrett Stidham and veteran journeyman Brian Hoyer for a role in September.

Cowherd is convinced that head coach Bill Belichick will use Newton as a starting quarterback in the upcoming season. He also believes that the Patriots move to sign Newton is related to their opinion of Stidham.

“My first takeaway is apparently Jarrett Stidham is not amazing,” Cowherd said Sunday night in a video that was posted to his Instagram account. “My second reaction is it’ll be fun. It’s a one-year deal. I don’t think he’s the future in New England. But who’s not going to watch that? Who’s not going to watch Belichick, and Cam Newton? And I really think Cam Newton putting videos out, over and over and over again, showing people that he was committed, looked like he was in great shape — I think that was really, really important.

“He’s got something left. He’s a starter somewhere. A little surprised it was New England, I never thought he quite fit what they do. If you really look at what’s happening to football, the game is moving toward Cam Newton’s style, not away from it.”

Colin Cowherd is an optimist for Cam Newton and his role

Well, this was a rather bold prediction and it makes sense. Many NFL names shared their take on Newton’s deal with the team. Current and former Patriots players reacted to the signing. Former Patriots quarterback Tom Brady reacted to Newton’s arrival in New England. It was an expected reaction from the greatest of all time.

Veteran wideout Mohamed Sanu is really excited about his new teammate. He believes that Newton is a great leader and admires his accomplishments. Newton has won so many awards and he was an NFL MVP in 2015.

2020 will be full of excitement for the Patriots. Now they have another quarterback in the mix. Let’s see how will Newton fit in head coach Bill Belichick’s winning formula.
