Story Behind Patriots’ Mohamed Sanu & Cam Newton’s Workout Together

Patriots veteran wideout Mohamed Sanu had his first workout with newly-acquired quarterback Cam Newton. It was too fast, and people started asking questions. It happened so quickly, and yes, it was somewhat awkward.

Nicole Yang from The Boston Globe reported that Sanu congratulated his new teammate on the one-year deal he signed with the New England Patriots. He wanted to see what he was doing that week.

“I’m gonna be in L.A.,” Yang wrote. “Oh shoot, I’m gonna be in L.A.,”

NFL trainer Drew Lieberman has been working with Sanu for quite some time. He said this was “just so coincidental.” The trainer added that the two working out together early is definitely a good sign.

“More than anything, just spending quality time together and learning each other more as people and as teammates,” he said. “I think that’s what pays off down the road. The quicker you build that chemistry, the quicker things start to click. They’re on a similar mission, like two guys in a contract year, two guys who feel like they have something to prove. They both just want to get back to themselves. When they’re at the top of their game, they’re two of the best at what they do.”

Sanu sustained an ankle injury on Nov. 3 in the game against the Baltimore Ravens. This was his second game with the Patriots. He only missed one game, but the injury had a huge effect on his injury. Sanu had a procedure in March, and from what we can see, his recovery process is really great.

The 2015 NFL MVP saw action in just 16 games in the last two seasons. Newton has had shoulder and foot procedures. We don’t know whether these two will reach their full potential in the upcoming season. But we do know that they are ready to show the Patriots that head coach Bill Belichick made the right decision to bring them in New England.

Sanu and Newton are ready for the upcoming season, and they are ready to win a title with the team. Will that happen this season?
