The New England Patriots are playing the Miami Dolphins in the first game of the regular season. Cam Newton is leading the team to a win, and the Patriots look completely different this season. But, head coach Bill Belichick has a high opinion of his players. Several veterans will take the lead. The team has released the first injury report of the regular season. As you may have noticed, the greatest concern is related to wideout Julian Edelman as he was listed as limited for the game vs Dolphins.
The veteran wide receiver was limited in practice due to a knee injury. Edelman had several surgeries this offseason and saw a lower workload in training camp. He is the most accomplished member of the Patriots receiving unit. Jules leads the Pats with 100 catches for a career-high 1,117 yards and six touchdowns in 2019.
Julian Edelman is not the only player to be limited for the game vs Dolphins
Receiver/punt returner Gunner Olszewski was limited due to his knee issue. Outside linebacker Chase Winovich saw limited action due to his shoulder. Olszewski missed three straight practices last week. The Patriots had him in the last two.
Offensive tackle Yodny Cajuste and linebacker Cassh Maluia didn’t join the team in Wednesday’s practice. Both players have knee issues.
Maluia was riding a stationary bike on the sideline during the open media portion of the session.
New England is ready for the Miami Dolphins. Miami players will arrive at Gillette Stadium on Sunday and this will be one of the most anticipating games for the team. The Patriots have a tough schedule but Belichick is ready for that. Aqib Talib wasn’t ready to meet the league’s best tight ends and he turned down Bill Belichick’s offer and decided to retire.
The Buffalo Bills are the biggest threat for the Patriots in 2020. It’s a big challenge for the team and Belichick has to fill a few more holes in the next few weeks. The initial roster will undergo a lot of changes and some of the players will probably be replaced with other talents.
