Pros and Cons of Trading Kyle Kuzma For the Los Angeles Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers won the 2020 NBA Championship and it was more than teamwork. Pretty much every player contributes to the final score. LeBron James was leading the way for the team. Anthony Davis was of great help to the team too. Young Lakers did their thing, and it was amazing. The Los Angeles Lakers will enter a highly anticipated offseason as too many players are set to enter free agency. Rajon Rondo, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and JaVale McGee may opt-out of their player option. There are plenty of rumors suggesting the potential trading of Kyle Kuzma.

Kuzma is actually the only young talent to survive the Davis trade deal with the New Orleans Pelicans. LA sent Lonzo Ball, Josh Hart and Brandon Ingram to New Orleans.

Trading Kyle Kuzma may not be the best option

This trade was more than beneficial for the team. Well, Kuzma’s role on the offense saw a big dip in 2019-20. Davis was a good fit for LeBron. Kuzma was the third-leading scorer for the team in the regular season with his 12.8 points per game. However, the Lakers may trade Kuzma if they want to get someone like Chris Paul from the Oklahoma City Thunder or Derrick Rose from the Detroit Pistons.

Lakers fans are definitely ready to see Kuzma leave LA. Some fans still believe that Kuzma is too valuable to be traded.

Kuzma is at the very beginning of his career. Rose and Paul may soon bring their careers to an end.

Since his selection, Kuzma was averaging 16.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.9 assists in 208 regular-season games. Kuzma has his best game on Jan. 9, 2019, against the Detroit Pistons. He scored career-high 41 points in 29 minutes while shooting 66.7 percent from the floor and 50.0 percent from the 3-point line.

Kuzma can definitely play as a No. 1 option. But, he won’t get too many shots as long as LA is led by LeBron and Davis on the floor. He may average 20 points per game, but he is more interested in winning games than putting up great numbers.
