Dennis Schroder Warns NBA on ‘Dangerous’ Combo With Montrezl Harrell

The Los Angeles Lakers won the 2019-20 NBA title with one of the strongest benches in the league. The front office added even more power to the second unit in an effort to win back-to-back titles. General Manager Rob Pelinka signed a few valuable players this offseason, including former Clippers veteran Montrezl Harrell. The addition of Dennis Schroder came like a pleasant surprise, and the German native has a big warning to other teams. Yes, awesome Dennis Schroder and Montrezl Harrell can do so much together.

Many experts would agree that adding Schroder and Harrell was probably the best decision Pelinka made this offseason.

Dennis Schroder to build an instant connection with Montrezl Harrell

The newly-acquired point guard talked about his performance with Harrell. Let’s just say that he and Harrell are pretty confident about their dominance on the basketball court.

“It’s going to be a 1-2 punch that’s really dangerous … it’s going to be a good pick-and-roll option,” Schroder said, per Mike Trudell.

The reigning champions have two of the best reserves in the NBA. Harrell was the NBA Sixth Man of the Year and had a really good season with the Clippers. He was averaging 18.6 points, 7.1 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.1 blocks.

Schroder came second in the voting after relieving CP for the Oklahoma City Thunder. His year was also great, and Schroder came with nice averages. He had 18.9 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 4.0 dimes per game with his team while shooting 46.9 percent from the field and 38.5 from downtown. Of course, he will see some changes in the upcoming season and the Lakers will probably cut his minutes on the court.

These two will have the same role for the Lakers in 2020-21. But, Schroder would love to join the starting lineup, so Lakers head coach Frank Vogel may give him a chance to play alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis.  LA’s starting point guard Rajon Rondo signed with the Atlanta Hawks, and the team has to come up with a solution.

Schroder is absolutely right about his potential on the floor. He and Harrell could do a lot of damage, and NBA teams should get ready for the duo. Harrell can read pick and rolls and he is a brilliant floor runner.
