Michael Lombardi Addresses on Julian Edelman Recovery

The New England Patriots really hoped to get one of their veterans back on the field. Well, things won’t go that easy and the team will have to rely on other receivers. NESN’s NFL insider Michael Lombardi appeared on “NESN After Hours” on Monday to share more news on Julian Edelman and his recovery. Will Edelman return to the field in 2020?

The Patriots felt the sting of the COVID-19 pandemic. Edelman found his spot on the reserve/COVID-19 list. ESPN’s Field Yates was among the first to report on the case. We don’t have any information regarding Edelman’s situation. Is he positive? Maybe he was in close contact with an infected person. In both cases, NFL teams place players on the covid list.

Michael Lombardi gives fans a reason to ask questions about Julian Edelman and his recovery

Edelman hasn’t seen any action since Oct. 25. The team placed him on injured reserve in Week 7. The wideout had a knee procedure to fix it. Although Edelman was eligible to return for the past few weeks, he didn’t show up for practice. The veteran was on injured reserve  so he probably didn’t have any contact with his teammates. In other words, Patriots players are safe for now. The team may not deal with another outbreak. We all remember what happened in October. Veteran quarterback Cam Newton, cornerback Stephon Gilmore and a few other players ended up on the COVID-19 list.

Earlier on Monday, head coach Bill Belichick provided a positive update on the veteran’s recovery from his knee surgery. Belichick appeared on WEEI’s Ordway, Merloni & Fauria to share his comments on the wideout. Edelman’s nightmare doesn’t end here, and he will have to spend even more time outside the field.

Belichick said that his veteran wideout has worked really hard. The Patriots coach would never count Edelman out of anything. He has an excellent will and work ethic. Edelman is a competitive player and he better return to the field in the near future. Football is important to him, and it takes a lot for fans and experts to count Edelman out. Simple as that.
