Cam Newton Reveals His Biggest Surprise With Bill Belichick

Veteran quarterback Cam Newton joined the New England Patriots in a surprise move, and head coach Bill Belichick likes him a lot. Although Newton is coming off one of his worst NFL seasons, the Patriots head coach has nothing but words of praise for the brilliant quarterback. Newton did everything Belichick and Josh McDaniels asked him to do, but it wasn’t enough. New England lost too many games and missed the chance to make the playoffs this season.

The Patriots finished 2020 with a big win over the New York Jets. Newton finished his first and probably only season with the team with three touchdown passes. He also caught a TD pass in Sunday’s win.

Cam Newton may not get a chance to surprise Bill Belichick in 2020

The offseason is pretty close, and reporters keep asking questions about Newton and his role with the Patriots. Some of them also asked him to reflect on his debut with the Patriots. Newton offered amazing perspective on the legendary coach. When asked what surprised him about Patriots head coach, Newton revealed how “cool” he thinks Belichick is.

“How cool he was,” the quarterback said. “I’ll bet he’d be dope at a bar.”

We didn’t really understand this one. The entire NFL world has a chance to watch Belichick during and after games. Did you watch him at the Kentucky Derby?

Newton seems to be having great with his head coach. Well, their relationship may not last that long. Adam Schefter was among the first to report on Newton’s future with the team. His report sort of suggests that the Patriots would get rid of the veteran this offseason.

The 2015 NFL MVP finishes his debut season with the Patriots with a 6-8 record, 2,657 passing yards, and eight touchdowns with ten interceptions. This is not his best season and New England has seen much better than that. But, Newton is not the only one to be blamed for the disappointing season. He lacked weapons and offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels should have changed his approach. Well, the season is over now, and Belichick will have to do a lot of thinking now. Is he keeping Newton on the roster?
