Magic Johnson Fires Strong Message at Lakers GM Rob Pelinka

Magic Johnson has a warning for Los Angeles Lakers GM Rob Pelinka. We do believe Pelinka will take this warning seriously. The Los Angeles Lakers were eliminated from the first round of the series against the Phoenix Suns. Players struggled to score and their struggle was more than obvious. Anthony Davis joined his team in Game 6 but had to leave the game after 5 minutes of action.

According to Johnson, several players didn’t do their job and LA missed the chance to defend the title. Johnson took a shot at Pelinka. They have a history and that makes things even more interesting.

Johnson called out the underperformance of some players on the roster. He criticized the roster Pelinka constructed in the offseason. The Lakers were set to defend the title and they really looked like favorites to win it. However, some players failed to deliver and Johnson noticed their struggle.

Lakers GM Rob Pelinka will take the advice

The Lakers decision-maker will have to try really hard to fix the damage. This offseason will be really important for the team. Pelinka will have to get rid of some of the players and create more room for other stars.

Johnson was the Lakers president of basketball operations a few years ago. He resigned, claiming he was unhappy with the role. When asked about the resignation, the Hall-of-Famer said he noticed something he didn’t like. He wasn’t happy with the backstabbing and whispering.

“What I didn’t like was the backstabbing and the whispering. I don’t like that,” Johnson told reporters after stepping down. “I don’t like a lot of things that went on that didn’t have to go on. And so I hope that after tomorrow the Lakers can head in the right direction, which we are. Injuries really hurt us. But I enjoyed working with Jeanie side-by-side.

“I enjoyed working with Linda (Rambis). Tim [Harris] and I had some good times. The brothers were outstanding as well, working with Jesse and Joey (Buss).”
