New England Patriots Player Has Big Expectations For Rookie QB Mac Jones

The New England Patriots brought a rookie quarterback in the 2021 NFL Draft, and experts have high expectations from Mac Jones. The team wraps minicamp this week and pretty much everyone is focused on Jones. Will head coach Bill Belichick give him the starting job in 2021? Belichick once said Cam Newton was his starting quarterback, but things may change at some point of the regular season.

Newton is set to be the starting quarterback for the Patriots in 2021. He was a starter in 2020 but his passing game was bad. Newton had an excellent running game and Belichick will want to see more of that. Of course, the veteran quarterback got COVID and lacked weapons. These are some of the obstacles Newton had last season. Things will probably change this time as the Patriots have signed a lot of valuable players. They have strong offense and the defense looks good too. Kyle Van Noy and Dont’a Hightower are back and things look a little better than before. Just kidding. Things look a lot better than before. Belichick signed guys like Jonnu Smith and Henry Hunter. One can never go wrong with these two.

What about Jones?

Patriots players are impressed with rookie Mac Jones

The first-rounder made great first impression on Patriots coaches and players. New England got him with the 15th overall and Jones may be the right quarterback of the future for the Patriots.

Trent Brown has nothing but words of praise for Jones. He said the rookie has gotten strong tutelage, adding that Jones is already playing like an older player.

“Mac, he’s a young guy, but you can’t really just refer to him as a young guy,” Brown said this week, via Ryan Hannable of WEEI. “You can tell he’s been at a place where [he’s] got some coaching. I think he’s going to be special here in the future.”

Jones played for Nick Saban at Alabama for three years. He fell behind Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa on the depth chart, but he really owned 2020. Jones got his Heisman nomination and hit draft boards.
