Patriots Place These Eight Players On Physically Unable To Perform List

The New England Patriots are ready for training camp, and eight players will begin it on the physically unable to perform list.

Veteran cornerback Stephon Gilmore is on this list.

The 2019 NFL Defensive Player of the Year reported to Gillette Stadium on Thursday. Field Yates from ESPN confirmed the news. Gilmore missed a big portion of the 2020 NFL season due to a partially torn quad. He didn’t attend mandatory minicamp in June and also missed organized activities this spring. The 31-year-old is set to earn a base salary of $7 million in the final year of his five year deal.

Eight Patriots players end up on physically unable to perform list due to injuries

Quarterback Jarrett Stidham, wide receiver Devin Smith, tight end Dalton Keene, defensive tackle Byron Cowart, linebackers Chase Winovich and Terez Hall, and core special-teamer Brandon King are also on this list. Each of these players is eligible to come off the list and practice with the team.

On Wednesday, the team placed three rookie players in running back Rhamondre Stevenson, linebacker Cameron McGrone and safety Joshuah Bledsoe on the non-football injury list.

Other Patriots veterans have to report on July 27. Players will have the first season of training camp on July 28. A lot of things can change in the next few days.

Winovich missed mandatory minicamp for an unknown reason. Of course, some say this was due to his injury.

Fans were surprised to read Stidham’s name on the list. He took part in all of the team’s offseason workouts. We don’t have any information about his potential injuries.

The physically unable to perform list is for players who are coming in with lingering health conditions. Players are free to hit the field as soon as they feel great.

This team looks a lot different now. Some Patriots players had to leave the team in the offseason. Head coach Bill Belichick signed the players he needs to pack the roster with talent. Some of these players will earn a spot on the active roster.
