Look: Carmelo Anthony Compares LeBron James to 900-Year-Old Italian Grandmother

Does LeBron James look like a grandmother to you? Newly-added Lakers player Carmelo Anthony has something to say about the four-time NBA champion.

First, let’s mention the fact that the Los Angeles Lakers created the oldest roster in the NBA. A lot of people criticized the front office for signing players like Melo and Trevor Ariza. Old players can do much more than young stars. Rob Pelinka signed an excellent group of veterans. Each of these players has great playoff experience. Some of them have yet to win a ring.

“We knew that,” Anthony said. “We expected people to say those things; they have to. They have to start a debate, get engagement from people; that’s what it is. This is the only industry where you can be too old. After you reach a certain age, it’s like you’re supposed to lose everything. After 32 years old, it’s a wrap. Like, no. We’re getting older, we’re getting wiser. We know how to move differently, we know how to think differently. We know how to pick our spots and we know what we need to do when we need to do it and how we need to do it.

“It’s like…you go to an Italian restaurant, you got the grandmother in there who’s 900 years old cooking the food. The food comes out amazing, though. You’re not gonna say she’s too old to be cooking. You’re gonna taste and enjoy that food. It’s the same situation with us. We’re the cooks in the kitchen. When you taste the food, you’re gonna love the food. That’s how I look at it.”

Carmelo Anthony says LeBron James is a cool “grandmother”

Lakers head coach Frank Vogel has a big challenge for his players. They have to combine their skills, talent, and experience to make it work. These guys have to swallow their egos and join forces.

Of course, age can change players’ impact overnight. Injuries can shut down someone’s performance in the blink of the eye. LeBron and Anthony Davis missed a lot of time due to injuries last season. They need to stay healthy to stay on the top of the conference.
