Russell Westbrook Breaks Silence After Getting Benched Again

Russell Westbrook was benched again. The Los Angeles Lakers benched him in the game against the New York Knicks. Yes, it was an overtime win for the purple and gold but Westbrook was benched. What does that mean? Oh, this benching will definitely add fuel to all the rumors out there.

Westbrook seems to be struggling again. He had brilliant performance after his first benching, but something happened in the meantime. Why did Frank Vogel bench him at the end of the game? The Lakers head coach said he used players who can actually win the game. Broddie wasn’t one of them. Everyone was so interested in Westbrook’s side of the story and he actually gave several different stories. One thing stands for sure. Vogel and Westbrook are fine.

Russell Westbrook was benched again, but didn’t talk about it

When asked about this benching, Westbrook shared an interesting response. He paid attention to the game. He said winning matters.

“The best part of this game is that you win,” Westbrook said. “Guys competed. We won the game and that’s all that matters.”

Lakers fans got angry. They got frustrated. Westbrook’s shooting is horrible and some of them don’t even want him to take shots. If you ask Westbrook, he will say that bad things happen all the time.

“It happens,” he said. “I missed some shots that I normally make. Like I said, I don’t want to keep making it about me. When I play bad, you guys ask me a s— ton of questions. And then when I shoot the ball well, I don’t hear too many of those questions. So I don’t want to keep making it about me and what I’m doing. We won the game and that’s the most important part.”

The Lakers front office said Westbrook wouldn’t go anywhere this season. They brought him for a reason and Rob Pelinka wouldn’t trade someone who came to LA a few months ago. Let’s see what happens next in the offseason. It will be interesting to watch things unfold in LA.
