Josh McDaniels Pushing To Sign Another Ex-Patriots Star

It seems like the Las Vegas Raiders are determined to get a great number of Patriots assistants and players. The whole thing started when Josh McDaniels left the New England Patriots to be the next head coach for the Raiders and it looks like he has his eyes set on a former Patriots star. Many believe that McDaniels is trying to lure Patriots players to pack his 2022 roster. The former Patriots OC denies these claims and to be honest, we can’t blame him for trying to build a monster roster.

Who is the next the player to join the Raiders?

Josh McDaniels to go after Patriots star cornerback

Vinsent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that the Raiders are doing a great effort to get the 2019 Defensive Player of the year.

“If (the Raiders) don’t land Stephon Gilmore it won’t be for lack of trying,” Bonsignore reported early Friday morning. “They are making a run.”

Well, the Patriots didn’t want Gilmore and didn’t give him a contract extension. The veteran cornerback wanted a longer extension and a lot of money. The Patriots didn’t want to spend millions of dollars to keep him around. Gilmore joined the team in training camp in 2021, but the team traded him to the Carolina Panthers early in the regular season. It wasn’t an unexpected move. Gilmore wanted his talent to be valued and took the matter in his own hands. He missed a big chunk of the season due to an injury but he feels really good now.

Getting Gilmore will be of great help for the Raiders. He and McDaniels know each other really well. The Patriots got the best of Gilmore but his talent is still here. He has so much to offer which makes him a desirable target for the Raiders.

McDaniels already got Brandon Bolden, Jakob Johnson, and Chandler Jones. He also got some of the assistants who worked under head coach Bill Belichick. Interestingly, McDaniels wanted James White, too, but the veteran decided to stay in New England. We have a good feeling that McDaniels won’t stop here.
