Report: Another Former Patriots Starter To Sign With Tom Brady’s Buccaneers

Tom Brady came out of his retirement to sign another deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Well, he will be working with many familiar names and one of the players was actually his teammate in New England. Former Patriots starter Logan Ryan decided to sign a deal with the Buccaneers. It wasn’t an unexpected move because Ryan was already looking for another home in the NFL. The New York Giants parted ways with their defensive captain.

Mike Garafolo reported that Ryan had $8.5 million in guaranteed money for his second year of the three-year deal worth $30 million. Ryan, 31, has a base salary of $9.25 million and a cap charge of around $12.25 million for the 2022 season. Cutting Ryan gives the Giants a chance to save $3.75 million against the cap.

Ryan is a nine-year veteran. In his two seasons with the Giants, he had 30 starts and became team leader. He had great connection with Joe Judge and Patrick Graham. New York made some changes and Ryan wasn’t a good fit anymore. The Giants will have to add more depth at safety right now.

The former Patriots starter agrees to sign with Buccaneers, reunites with Tom Brady

When it comes to the Buccaneers, they will be more than happy to see their superstar quarterback reunite with his former teammate. Ryan and Brady played together from 2013 to 2016. The Patriots won two titles during this time and Ryan had 40 starts and 13 interceptions.

Ryan left the Patriots and spent three seasons with the Tennessee Titans. He followed Judge in New York and had 117 tackles in 2021.

The nine-year veteran is not the only former Patriot to join the Buccaneers. Shaq Mason left the team to ink a deal with Brady’s team.

The Patriots have a busy offseason as they have to add depth to several positions. Losing JC Jackson in free agency was probably the biggest blow for the team but they calculated their options. Kyle Van Noy, Ted Karras, Chase Winovich, Brandon Bolden… They are all gone.
