Report: Frank Vogel Interviewed With Charlotte Hornets

The Los Angeles Lakers are looking for a new head coach and everyone predicts a tough battle on the NBA floor. The Lakers decided to fire Frank Vogel and he interviewed with the Charlotte Hornets for their head coaching vacancy. Surprised much? No?

Charlotte is winding down the first round of the Hornets’ head coaching search, according to league sources, having flown to meet several coaches in person as opposed to over Zoom. Frank Vogel, the former Lakers head coach, is among Charlotte’s list of interviewed candidates.

Vogel is an exceptional head coach. He led the Lakers to a title in the middle of a pandemic. Vogel and his team beat the Miami Heat inside the Orlando bubble and celebrated a great championship win.

The Lakers struggled to make an impact in the last few seasons. Players sustained injuries and missed a big chunk of the regular season. Many would say Vogel was the scapegoat. Well, he got the news about the firing right after the final game of the season. The Lakers didn’t really tell him. He found out about it from the media.

The Lakers have been linked with several coaches and Vogel is off to something different. Jake Fischer was among the first to confirm his interview with the Hornets. The team is looking for a new head coach after the departure of James Borrego. Charlotte didn’t have much luck this season either and left the play-in tournament with a big L.

If Vogel gets the job, he will join forces with LaMelo Ball, Miles Bridges, and Terry Rozier. How will he fit in the new system? Ball is young and Vogel will get a chance to work with a young force. The Lakers 2021-22 roster was packed with veterans and the results were pretty shocking.

Ball is incredibly talented and Bridges makes huge impact on the floor. The Hornets will need some help on the defensive end of the game and Vogel may help them make the right moves.
